Municipal Corporation has reviewed the policy regarding permissions for unipoles and hoardings in the light of the tragic incident of collapse of the unipole and the resultant death and injuries. The General Body meeting of the Corporation held today and presided over by it’s Special Officer Mr. S.P. Singh has passed a Special Resolution that:
· No new permissions will be granted for unipoles and hoardings.
· All unauthorized unipoles and hoardings, and those which are violative of the conditions laid down in the Permission Proceedings, shall be got removed forthwith, in case of all the other unipoles and hoardings, the Enquiry Committee (already appointed) will review the structural stability conditions afresh and make appropriate recommendations regarding the permissible sizes, heights and other technical specifications. Based on these recommendations, the ad agency concerned will have to submit a fresh stability certificate from one of the reputed technical universities or a recognized structural engineering firm, after carrying out the necessary structural modifications. Thereafter, the licences for such duly certified Unipoles/hoardings will be renewed.
· A similar exercise will also be carried out in the case of Communication towers and other such structures erected on top of the buildings, and fresh stability certification needs to be submitted on the above lines.
· The agency concerned shall necessarily submit the rental agreement entered into with the owner(s) of the premises to the Corporation. The rent amount mentioned therein will be added to the rental value of the building and the property tax payable to the Corporation will be enhanced accordingly.
· None of the unipoles or hoardings will be allowed to project on to the footpath area or carriageway.
These new guidelines will come into force with immediate effect.
