Robbing Peter to pay Paul

What do you when you need money? You have two options - Earn it the hard way or Steal it whichever you can. In case of the YSR government, selling land is an ideal way to fund the pet projects of the government. Hundreds of acres which were alloted years ago to government institutions in and around the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad are proving to be a goldmine for the cash strapped government.

Ideally, any money made from selling land in the city should be invested back in the city. Instead, the money is being used to line the pockets of contractors who are building projects ranging from dams to houses in other parts of the state. Strangely, there has been only a muted reaction from twin city based elected representatives, NGOs or anyone else. Who cares? The land does not belong to your or me, so why bother. That’s an ostrich in the sand attitude. Look at it another way.

If the hundreds and thousands of crores that were made by selling government land in the twin cities were invested in improving the infrastructure here, then our city would have been a paradise. Instead we have dug up roads, leaking drainage, empty water taps, chopped up trees and what not. How do we stop this blatant daylight robbery by the government?

Simple ! Rise up and fight. Ask your local MLA and other political babus about why the money from Hyderabad and Secunderabad should be used for building a dam in Nellore. Why cannot the government instead make a provision for these money guzzling projects in the budget? The money of the twin cities should stay right here. Robbing Peter to pay Paul is just not right.

Think about it….Ignore this at your peril.
