Cops and Corporators

Our politicians think they are the ones who are born to rule us. From a lowly corporator to high and mighty MPs, everyone assumes that they have God given right to manipulate laws to suit them. But the Andhra Pradesh High Court has plans to put a stop to all that.

The other day, a corporator Mohd. Mobin was stopped by a traffic policeman for not wearing a helmet. Our man insisted that he was above law and bashed up the poor cop. Not content with that he went ahead and got his pals to stage a dharna opposite the police station.

The high court has taken suo-moto action based on media reports and directed the Hyderabad Police to register a criminal case against the corporator. It also directed the Police Commissioner to book a contempt of court proceedings against the individual involved.

Kudos. It’s time our politicians learn to live by the law. Let us have more of the cases against other defaulters.
