Punjagutta flyover work commences

The work on the Punjagutta flyover has commenced with barricades coming up in many places along the busy Greenlands- Monappa Island (Rajiv Gandhi statue) – Punjagutta junction- Nagarjuna Circle road. The Rs.28.30 crore flyover will branch off into two arms – one landing near the Jalgam Vengal Rao Park on Road No.1 and the other one landing in front of Chutney’s on Road No.3 Banjara Hills.

The divider along with the greenery along the Greenlands flyover – Monappa Island has been removed and temporary barricades have been put in place. It’s a bit of a mess, but people in Hyderabad are sure to grin and bear it, because it’s all for a good cause.

The flyover is likely to be completed in about 15 months and traffic disruption is likely to be significant in the initial stages, when the pillars come up. From then on, the prefab structures will be brought from the fab site (to be located in the outskirts of the city) and placed atop the super structure along the flyover route. That work will be done in the night, and so hopefully traffic should not be a problem. According to Municipal Commissioner, Sanjay Jaju the flyover will be completed by February 2007.

Keep up the optimism.
