Cantonment board gets ready to bulldoze Sec’bad Club
An unauthorised construction is threatening to spell trouble for the 120-year-old Secunderabad Club. Defence estate bosses are talking of ‘action’ and want to demolish some alleged unauthorised constructions on the club premises.
The club authorities have now started lobbying with the Pune headquartered Southern Command of the Indian army to put a stop of the bulldozer move. SCB authorities said they will not hesitate to demolish all the alleged unauthorised constructions in the Secunderabad Club premises if the Southern Command, Pune rejects the contention of the club authorities.
The club claims that there are no unauthorised constructions on its premises. The SCB contends that there are 28 unauthorised structures on the club premises which came up without the prior permission from the concerned authority. The list includes children’s library, shop, portico, projection of existing building with RCC roof, scooter stand, RR building, tennis court, kitchen, staff rest rooms, workshop and extension of main club.
Despite all the bravado of the Cantonment Board and Defence Estates, the Secunderabad Club is likely to get away due to its high and mighty connections.
