It’s another project that should make driving to the new international airport a lot better. Chief Minister Rajasekhara Reddy laid the foundation stone on 16th March for what is touted the country’s longest flyover.
Starting from a point near Sarojini Eye Hospital near Mehdipatnam, the flyover will run along a length of 11.34 kms and end at Aramgarh junction on national Highway No.7, near the Shamshabad International Airport. The project to be completed in two years will cost Rs.600 crores and will have unique features like Trumpet interchange for smooth weaving in and of vehicles from various directions.
The proposal for this project was submitted by the GMR group, who are building the new international airport, and will be put up for bidding under the Swiss challenge method. Bidders will have to quote less than the Rs.600 crore, and the lowest bidder will bag the project.
This project once again proves that when it comes to infrastructure, the state government, HUDA and other authorities are thinking ahead of time. Let us hope, in days to come, the government comes up with more such projects in the twin cities.
