Traffic offenders are from the educated lot

The state of Traffic and the way we drive in Hyderabad are a topic of debate, specially among those who have moved to the city from other environs.

"The drivers here are crazy" is the common refrain. And if you thought the lowly auto rickshaw drivers are the major culprits, correct yourself. According to the Hyderabad Traffic Police, a sample screening of 200 offenders who were fined on a single day, indicates that a bulk of them are graduates and post graduates hailing from well-to-do families. We knew that all along, dod'nt we.

Changing lanes, riding helmetless, not strapping your seat belts, speaking on the mobile while driving are some of the offences committed by the rich and famous. Next time you sneer at a cyclist for cutting into you lane, point the finger at yourself. Are you driving right ? Think.
