Footover bridge at Begumpet

It's a nightmare for those trying to cross the Begumpet road during peak hours. Vehicles zip along trying to gain enough speed to either climb up the Greenlands flyover or trying to control their descent coming down the flyover. To add to this confusion are two bus stops near the Hyderabad Public School and the Women's College. But now there is a solution to it all.

Under the public-private partnership, a new footover bridge is coming up on the road near HPS. The main structure, a single span, suspension bridge was nudged into place with the help of four huge cranes in the intervening night of Saturday-Sunday. Traffic was diverted for over 12 hours, as the cranes lifted the super structure and slotted into the right place.

The foot over bridge (FOB) will be open for pedestrians by the month end. Eventually, lifts will be installed at both ends of the FOB. There will also be a ATM, a book shop and a florist counter aside the bridge.

19 more foot over bridges are being put in different parts of the city. Now, that must be music to the ears of the much harried pedestrian.
